Five-Star Leadership Banner Program
The NAIA partners with state high school athletics and activities associations to recognize high schools that are dedicated to leadership and character development through the Five-Star Leadership School Banner Program.
How it Works: Winning the Banner All secondary schools in a state have the opportunity to win the Champions of Character Five-Star Leadership School Banner Award. This annual leadership school award consists of a championship banner for winning schools to hang in their gym, a digital banner to post on their website and extensive community recognition.
Head Coach Character Training Head coaches will take the online Character Driven Coaching course, which is designed to show coaches how to deliberately teach character development alongside the Xs and Os. Coaches create their own plan for using teachable moments to build character through athletics. The two-hour course can be taken at the coach's own pace.
Video Training Series for Coaches, Students and Parents The training videos are shown to school team members of all sports and activities, as well as parents of all team members and coaches.
Custom programs The three remaining requirements are customized by the state association and can leverage existing educational programs, workshops, annual leadership or sportsmanship summits or other requirements that are determined by the association.
