Scholar-athletes from each of Dillard University’s athletic programs reached out to area youth this past Saturday by hosting their first Champions of Character clinic. The program, created by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, stresses five core values—integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership. Dent Gym was filled with games, skills sessions and presentations aimed at promoting these positive values both in and out of competition. Charles Davis, coach at Henry C. Schaumburg Elementary Math and Science Academy, brought several of his students to the event. “They had a lot of fun,” said Davis. “This was really nice. I plan on bringing them back for the next one.”

Dillard University plans to host their next Champions of Character clinic in the spring.
