Bret Bakita, from WBBL 1340 AM, interviewed Mike Riemersma, CU Champions of Character and sports camps director, last week on his radio show “On the Bench” about the Champions of Character program.

Bakita is on the Champions of Character Committee and was interested in helping Cornerstone “get the word out” about the program; so he invited Riemersma to be on his radio program.

The 20-minute interview focused on the initiative at CU, its potential impact in the Grand Rapids community and its partnering sponsors. CU’s Champions of Character has partnered with the OK-Conference to start programs in area high schools for parents, coaches and athletes. Riemersma has also been influential in forming promotional partnerships with the Griffins, Rampage and Whitecaps for the upcoming seasons.

CU is one of the official program centers of the NAIA Champions of Character initiative. The program emphasizes the true spirit of competition through the five core values: respect, responsibility, integrity, servant-leadership and sportsmanship.
